UNDOK App Review: A Reliable and User-Friendly Remote Control for Wifi Radios

Introduction

Despite the mixed reviews, I find the UNDOK app to be a reliable and user-friendly remote control for my wifi radio. I use it to link to my Tidal account on my Ruark R5, and I have no problems whatsoever. The app has a simple and robust UI, works reliably, and responds instantly every time. It even wires up my phone's volume buttons to the radio, which is a nice touch.

Features

The UNDOK app is easy to handle and quite practical. It works fine with a Nokia X20 telephone and a Pinell Supersound 202 Radio. The app is easy to save presets, and it's easy to scroll through presets. One cool thing is that you can easily search for internet radio channels/podcasts by typing the keywords in the app and add them to favorites instead of "typing" one letter each time from the radio's scroll wheel/RC.

Moreover, the app works very well with an internet radio Hama DIR3115. Once both phone+app and the radio are connected to the same Wifi network, the radio device was found immediately. I use the app as a remote control (volume, change/browse channels, switch device modes, turn on/off, etc.).

UNDOK also works fine with a Radio "TechniSat digitradio 10 IR." Everything is working fast and smooth. For me, it is a useful application with no flaws so far.

Compatibility

The app is compatible with various wifi radios, including Roberts Stream 93i, Ruark R2 MK3, Grundig DKR 3000 BT DAB+, and Roberts Radio RS1. It makes switching between Spotify, DAB, and internet radio easier than using the controls on the radio, especially if the buttons are small or inaccessibly located.

Limitations

One limitation of the UNDOK platform is that it doesn't allow for multiple apps to remotely control the radio at the same time. This means that you can't use home assistant and the mobile app together. Also, some users are disappointed with the lack of casting features on their radio, but it's not the fault of the app but the decisions the manufacturer has made.

User Experience

Overall, the UNDOK app provides a pretty positive experience. It's stable on most phones, including Moto G6+, and works perfectly with a strong signal. However, there might be a slight delay in response when altering volume, but it's not a significant issue.

One user even recommends the app if your wifi radio is compatible. The developers are responsive and helpful when there's an issue. The app has improved over the years and has all the basics and continued development.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the UNDOK app is a reliable and user-friendly remote control for wifi radios. It has a simple and robust UI, works reliably, and responds instantly every time. It's easy to handle and quite practical, making it easier to switch between Spotify, DAB, and internet radio. Although it has some limitations, it's still a useful application that makes life easier for many users.
